Memphis’s dramatic decline in crime has the murder rate at its lowest level in 15 years. No longer is the city the murder capital of the U.S., it is now #3 with a positive trend line.

Noted crime data analyst Jeff Asher reports that the rates in St. Louis and Kansas City are now higher than Memphis. If the current trend line continues for a couple of more years, the city’s murder rate could also be lower than Cleveland, Detroit, Milwaukee, and Baltimore.
